    Introductions Are In Order II

Glad to see this thread. Some of you may remember my posts from the early 2000s with my interviews with Dayton Moore on the old sports-boards forums (you can still google it, surprisingly). I'm 37 years old and a partner at an international law firm practicing cross border M&A and project...

    Next Move?

Found this nugget interesting. From DOB's extended notes with his interview with Coppy immediately following the Simba trade: http://atlantabraves.blog.ajc.com/2015/11/23/why-did-braves-trade-simmons-for-more-pitching-prospects/ Grilli? In which case, the sign a veteran and "flip them for a...

Fangraphs Evaluating the 2016 Prospects: Atlanta Braves

Potential bench piece/pinch hitter. He's basically the best in baseball at putting the bat on the ball and putting it into play (measured over a long period of time-- no sample size issues in that statement). That doesn't mean he's very good once he puts it into play (no power), but it's...

    Next Move?

    1. He's not a "kid" - he has little to no physical projection left; the ceiling upside is all in how he potentially translates those mechanics to MLB ball. 2. His PR performance leaves a lot to be desired. Having a penchant of squaring up a baseball does not correlate to multiple weak...

    Next Move?

I'm not saying I like the trade proposal, but if you read the link, it's Frazier + 72 hour window for extending him well beyond 2017 (i.e., the trade would be contingent upon a successful extension being negotiated).

Simmons dealt to Angels for two top pitchers, Aybar

Oops - yes I read the Briceno thing wrong. Oh well -- as I said before, I disliked the trade before, dislike it now. Briceno doesn't change the needle at all. I just don't like continuing to gamble on young arms (very volatile) instead of some high upside young bats. Just ludicrous. I'm...

Simmons dealt to Angels for two top pitchers, Aybar

I'm not a fan of this deal, but we also receive C Jose Briceno... at least he's got the potential of being an everyday C. (FYI- Kiley McDaniel is a huge fan of Briceno... likely not a coincidence).

    Trades reviewd

To be fair, the Mets have been pretty lucky with their pitching staff. TINSTAAP aside, DeGrom was never projected to be an ace-level prospect and even Syndergaard wasn't an uber prospect (Sickels rated him a B+ in 2012 (upgraded to an A- in 2013), and Baseball America had him outside their Top...

    Kiley McDaniel

The above reflects your initial quote. Then you called the rest of us "idiots" for endorsing him. Pot. Kettle. Black.

    Kiley McDaniel

Give it a rest. Kiley's worked for the front offices for the Yankees, Pirates and the Orioles, in addition to working for Baseball Prospectus (covering Latin America) and also created an unique system for forecasting future valuation of prospects combining traditional scouting with more advanced...

    Kiley McDaniel

This is an EXCELLENT hire for the Braves organization, although I agree that it is a loss to no longer have the benefit of Kiley's combined scouting and analytical approach to prospect evaluation. Perhaps now instead of saying we are going to flip some veteran we took a flier on for a "top 50...

    Around Baseball Offseason Thread

So long as he wasn't the brainchild of Jack Zduriencik's moves in Seattle while he was assistant there, I'm good with this (although to Jack's credit, the Nelson Cruz signing was a good one despite my thoughts at the time it was made to the contrary.)

8/11/2015 TUESDAY MINORS THREAD .... BBA's Best Tools for 2015

Ho hum. Another day at the office for Austin. Glad to see him back in the lineup too

Farewell to Wood, Peraza, Jimmy Johns, and Avilans.

Dodgers call up Peraza. So we gave up 4 major league pieces, in effect, for possibly one or two ready MLB pieces in Olivera and Paco. Bleh.

    Implications of the Trade

I have no knowledge of whether Heyward was himself contacted (I would imagine he was, but I don't know and doing so would be pure conjecture on my part). However Casey Close was fully engaged in several calls and Close clearly indicated a price range that was well north of what the Braves felt...

7/2/15: GDT - Washington Nationals @ Atlanta Braves

Please make good on your previous statements and leave. You add nothing to these forums and are a constant drag. It's one thing to have founded criticisms of the organization or a particular move (all of which I respect) but you are nothing but a negative troll.

    Mallex Smith promoted to AAA

The "hit tool" is among the hardest for scouts to accurately project. However, Mallex clearly has very good bat to ball skills and his speed is a definite plus when combined with same. I would be surprised if he's not in Top 100 lists (or, at the very least, in the "near miss" column).

Braves acquire RHP Touki Toussaint & Bronson Arroyo for Filthy Phil Gosselin

So...top 50 prospect for Gosselin? I'm officially a Posibrave.(note I am aware Toussiant is not yet a top 50 prospect but he's got the age and stuff to be on there if his results improve in the minors- and I suspect they will under our system tutelage)
